Shark Guardian released their Thailand eShark program back in October 2013 at the Aquamaster  opening event  in Chalong, Phuket. From then, Aquamaster sponsored the posters and promotion of the project so it was great to return to Chalong for a full Shark Guardian presentation. Charity Director Liz Ward-Sing presented to the enthusiastic audience with a big focus on Shark Guardian projects.

Thailand eShark

Participation in eShark from Phuket Dive Centers has been on a high level but there were still many centers wanting more information, with enthusiasm to take part. Liz updated the audience on the data results from the 4 months the project has run so far. Only 11% of entries, which are mainly from divers, show sightings of sharks. This is from around 3000 entries so far. Liz also stressed that the project will continue throughout the rest of the year and into next high season, even though the official project dates are November 1st 2013 to the end of April 2014. Plus everyone was encouraged to send in their old dive logs too.

Liz presented Sub Aqua with a new Shark Guardian Dive center sticker at the Green Man event. Sub Aqua is our first center to support us and shark conservation in the Karon area of Phuket. Liz also caught up with some of the other registered Dive Centers and gave them new 2014 stickers too. This included Sarah Kench from Scuba Cat who was one of 6 dive centers to have been with us from the start when our Dive Centers started in March 2013.

Thank you!
