Nottingham Schools get some more shark education

Shark Guardian Directors Liz Ward-Sing and Brendon Sing had a fantastic morning in two Nottingham schools on Monday the 9th of November. Around 400 children aged 5 through to 11 enjoyed the shark and marine video and slide show presented. The children are now really excited about sharks and why we must protect them.

Liz and Brendon started the day with an assembly at Leen Mills School. The whole school except reception years listened attentively as the focus on UK sharks was made. As the importance of sharks in our oceans was discussed and then re-capped with the children at the end, more than 300 children rounded the session off by saying they wanted to become Shark Guardians!

Later on the 9th of November Liz and Brendon returned to Liz’s old primary school, Holy Cross. 60 pupils from the upper classes enjoyed the presentation and particularly liked learning more about basking sharks. One student had even seen basking sharks in Scotland this year and said how wonderful the experience was.

A question and answer session at the end highlighted more positive shark experiences from the children. A few children admitted to being scared of sharks at the beginning but by the end there was nothing but respect for sharks. Again all children are now wanting to become Shark Guardians and we are sure our information will get shared with their friends and family.
