CHARLIE WILLIAMS
Miss Scuba UK 2017 Finalist, Scuba Diving Instructor and Photographer

Charley Williams is a British PADI Scuba Diving Instructor who moved to Thailand at 18 to begin her career in the diving industry.
"I was inspired at a very young age through watching documentaries about the ocean and it's inhabitants. I instantly became overwhelmed with awe and passion (thanks, David Attenborough) and decided to follow this into diving with the hopes of studying marine biology and becoming an underwater videographer. I completed my PADI open water course in the UK at age of 14, and soon progressed to Rescue Diver with the aim to have my Divemaster certification by 18.
Whilst studying, training and working in Thailand for my Divemaster, and also meeting and working alongside Shark Guardian, I learned a lot about the decrease in the shark population, it's causes, and other worldwide environmental issues. My plans to study soon changed; I wanted to spend my time out in the field, not in lecture room, and during the past three years in Thailand I have witnessed these issues first hand have used my position as an instructor to educate myself further and spread awareness.
I am now a finalist in Miss Scuba UK 2017 with the hopes to have a larger platform to highlight marine conservation and inspire more people to take up diving. I am thankful to have a quickly expanding online community following my journey in the diving industry.
I intend to follow my passion for diving and conservation further into producing educational photography, videography and written content. I hope to work with more organisations worldwide and organise diving stunts and events, eventually having my own platform to inspire."
